On June 8, 2024, Shane Homes YMCA in Rocky Ridge buzzed with excitement as we hosted our 17th Annual Indigenous Youth Hoops Tournament!This one-day event brought together six teams in Division 1 (ages 13 to 17) and four teams in Division 2 (ages 18 to 30) for a day of fun competition and community spirit.

Liliana Montenegro arrived in Canada from Colombia in the spring of 2008, filled with hopes for a new life with her husband and soon-to-be-born daughter. Settling in the neighbourhood of Richmond in Calgary, she was far from the familiar rhythms of her home country, and still adjusting to the differences of this new city.

Camp Chief Hector YMCA is one such camp. Since it first opened in 1930, the camp has dedicated itself to being a place where youth can belong, grow, thrive and lead.
