The Lions Club of Bearspaw has been supporting YMCA Calgary since 2007 with philanthropic donations towards children and youth access and programming in northwest Calgary.

At YMCA Calgary, stories of personal and professional growth are woven into every corner of our community. Amy McDowell, a lifeguard and swim instructor at Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge, is a great example of how the YMCA helps people grow.  Amy’s Y Story began long before she got her lifeguard whistle.  

We are thrilled to celebrate former YMCA Calgary Board Chair, Zain Velji, who has received a King Charles III Coronation Medal for his significant contributions to Calgary.

Last night, we had the honour of partnering with Avenue Calgary Magazine to launch the inaugural Top 20 Under 20 in Calgary. As sponsor of this event, we were thrilled to share our theatre space at Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge with over 175 guests to celebrate the amazing young leaders of our city.

Mental health is a vital component of overall well-being, and as awareness of its importance continues to grow, programs that foster wellness, education, and support have become more essential than ever. One such initiative is Recovery College, a program offered by the Canadian Mental Health Association – Calgary Region (CMHA Calgary), now available at multiple YMCA Calgary locations.
