You deserve a break! YMCA Calgary offers short-term care for infants and children ages six weeks to nine years while their parents/guardians use our facilities. Our child minding caregivers create a fun, safe and comfortable environment for young children. Caregivers apply best practices for healthy child development and integrate play-based learning theory into all aspects of their work. Your child’s time in short-term care is always fun!
Child Minding Online Booking
All Child Minding appointments are booked through your YMCA Portal Account. Appointments can be booked for the following week on the preceding Friday at 11 a.m. All appointments are two hours long each, with one appointment scheduled per day.
All available appointments will be available for booking up to 30 minutes into the current booking session. This will allow families to check on the day they are wishing to use child minding services to see if a last minute, casual appointment is available.
Please note – child minding staff are unable to book or cancel appointments for children. Should you require assistance, please speak with a member of our Customer Service Team or contact our Engagement Centre here.

Fees listed are for a 2-hour booking appointment. Fees listed for an individual child will be automatically calculated based on the YMCA membership status and their age.
Note – Families receiving YMCA financial assistance will have the discounted fee, as per their YMCA financial assistance agreement, automatically applied to their account for child minding. If this is not reflected on your account, please speak with a member of our Customer Service team.
Check online, using your portal, for an available appointment time(s). You will find available appointments under "Programs and Day Camps" and then "Child Minding" Select the appointment time(s) you want, and then check out and pay. Click here to view a how-to video on booking appointments.
You can cancel your child’s appointment online without penalty up to one hour prior to their scheduled time. This action will refund any monies paid to your account as a credit.
Late cancellations and no-shows are non-refundable. Member children under the age of 2 years will be charged a no-show amount of $5.00 if an appointment is unused and not cancelled.
Once an appointment is cancelled online, it will be visible on the portal for another user to book.
Child Minding appointments are limited, pending availability, to three visits per child per week. All child minding appointments are two hours long, and all bookings are completed through the online portal.
Yes. Please ensure the financial assistance subsidy has been added to your account. This can be done at Customer Service. Financial assistance for child minding is 50% of the full cost of the service and may be utilized up to 3x/week/child.
Please note – YMCA Financial Assistance is through an application process. Those eligible for financial assistance will receive approval for a defined period of time.
You can cancel up to one hour prior to your appointment without being charged on the app. If it is less than 30 minutes before your appointment, you will have to reach out to a Child Minding staff and they will direct you accordingly.
