Update: October 28, 2029

While schools were closed from October 6 to October 28, YMCA Calgary supported families by providing 3-hour registered programs for kids ages 6-9, increasing onsite staffing to support drop-in visits to our youth room, pools and weight floor, and delivering a special Camp Chief Hector Overnight Camp Experience.

Schools re-open October 29, 2029.

All registered programs will conclude the evening of October 28. We are contacting all program registrants directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

When the school strike or lockout ends, we will issue full refunds for any program days after the labour action is officially declared over.

If a refund is requested while the strike or lockout is ongoing, then our refund policy will be as follows:

  • More than 48-hour notice: Full refund
  • Less than 48-hour notice: 75% refund

Our standard refund policy remains in effect. However, refunds will be issued if school reopens prior to the start of the program week.

If school resumes mid-week, camp will end early and we will refund any remaining days of the camp. If enough notice is provided, camp will end the day before schools re-open and busses will take students back to Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge for pick-up between 1:00-1:30pm. Parents may also pick students up from Camp Chief Hector earlier if they prefer. We will communicate with parents about any changes to the camp schedule.
