Health & Wellness Holiday Gift Guide
The holiday season is the perfect time to celebrate movement, mindfulness, and moments of joy with the people you care about most. Whether you’re shopping for someone who loves to unwind, someone who loves to swim, or someone who’s looking to start their fitness journey in the new year, these gift ideas are thoughtful, practical, and sure to make them smile.
To bring this holiday gift guide to life, we asked some of our YMCA staff to share their favourite gift ideas for anyone on a wellness journey.
Zander’s Sporty Holiday Picks
In his role as a Sports, Day Camp, and Climbing Supervisor, Zander is always encouraging people to find ways to stay active and build confidence. His holiday picks are all about items that help you move, stretch, and feel good throughout the season.
- Resistance Bands: Zander says that resistance bands are great for anyone who wants to stay active at home. “They’re simple, versatile, and help build strength and flexibility,” he shares. “A gift that makes it easy to move, stay strong, and take care of yourself during the cold winter months.”
- Yoga Mat: “Yoga mats give you a simple space to stretch or take a quick breather,” says Zander. “They support body and mind and is a nice way to stay grounded during the holiday season.”
Lucas’ Splashy Holiday Picks
As an Aquatics Supervisor, Lucas has spent years helping swimmers of all levels feel confident and enjoy the water. His holiday picks reflect his love for making pool time fun and immersive.
- Goggles: Gifting a pair of goggles to someone who loves to swim gives them a whole new swimming experience. “Being in a pool is already a huge change in environment,” explains Lucas. “Goggles allow you to see even more of that new world!
- Pair of Fins: For anyone getting used to aquatic facilities or looking to step up their fitness journey, Lucas recommends a pair of fins. “Fins allows you to focus more on upper body workouts in the water and helps learn kicks such as dolphin kicks,” he shares. “They’re perfect for someone who’s looking to strengthen their core and improve their swimming technique.”
- Swimwear: Some of Lucas’ fondest memories were spent in a pool growing up. “What better way to spread that joy to family or friends than grabbing a pair of swim trunks and making memories in the pool together?” he asks.
Aishah’s Cozy Holiday Picks
Working in Customer Service, Aishah meets members of all ages and knows that the small comforts brighten the winter season. Her holiday picks are all about warmth, coziness, and simple joys that make the colder months feel a little warmer.
- Thermos: Aishah loves the idea of giving a thermos for keeping your hot chocolate warm on snowy days and your water cool during busy holiday errands. It’s a practical winter companion that fits easily into anyone’s routine.
- Oversized Blanket Hoodie: For Aishah, this is a winter must-have. “Everyone deserves large pockets, warmth, and comfort,” she says. It’s the kind of gift that brings instant coziness for those Christmas movie nights and chilly early mornings.
- YMCA Gift Card: To round out her list, Aishah recommends something flexible and thoughtful such as a YMCA gift card. It’s a great option that encourages movement, community connection, and starting the new year on a happy and healthy note.
This holiday season, thoughtful gifts ultimately go a long way by simply putting a smile on the face of someone special as they keep them active, encourage mindfulness and warmth beyond the winter months. From all of us at the YMCA, we hope this holiday gift guide inspires you to share the gift of health and happiness with your friends, family, and loved ones.
Happy Holidays!
