Make your passion for health and wellness, youth engagement, or Indigenous programming have a lasting impact.

The YMCA Calgary Endowment Funds promote and support YMCA Calgary initiatives to build healthier communities now and for future generations.

Donors can make a living gift or create a planned gift to our Endowment Funds. Gifts are endowed which means they are invested in perpetuity. Annually, a portion of the investment income is used to fund YMCA Calgary programs each year. This source of sustainable income allows for long-term planning in order to meet the current and changing needs of the community.

Making an endowment gift to YMCA Calgary is about building sustainable futures to help generations of children and families thrive, promoting healthy living and creating belonging and connection. Your legacy makes sure that the YMCA is supported and gives you an opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of others—in your lifetime and beyond.

You can donate to the General Endowment Fund or Camp Chief Hector Endowment Fund, which are invested by our external investment manager with oversight by the Audit and Investment Committee of the YMCA Board of Directors. You can also donate to the YMCA Calgary Youth Endowment Fund held with the Calgary Foundation. The YMCA Calgary Youth Endowment Fund is permanently endowed with the Calgary Foundation. Annual disbursements and investment management decisions are managed solely by the Calgary Foundation. YMCA Calgary is the sole beneficiary of the fund and will be in perpetuity.

By making a charitable bequest in your will, you can leave a legacy that will help shape the future health and wellbeing of our communities.

A sentence in your will, or a codicil appended to your present will, that names YMCA Calgary as the beneficiary of a portion of your estate, or of particular assets in your estate, is all that is required.

When you leave YMCA Calgary in your will, you are joining a group of individuals who believe, as you do, that the YMCA is a trusted and valuable charity supporting the health and wellbeing of our community. Donors are recognized in our Heritage Club, which provides opportunities to stay connected with the YMCA through annual events and YMCA updates.

Making a gift in your will is easy, but it’s an important decision to discuss with your family and your lawyer/professional advisor. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss your legacy gift and answer any questions.

For more information, please contact Christy Repchuk, Major Gift & Planned Giving Officer, at christy.repchuk@ymcacalgary.org.
