On September 28, grade 6 students in Calgary gathered together at Camp Riveredge for the 2024 Calgary Flames Grade 6 YMCA Membership kickoff – a day filled with adventure, connection, and lots of laughter. The event was a great chance for sixth graders to start the year with new friends and exciting experiences, and for many, it was their first big event as part of the Grade 6 program.

To say board member Natasha Tiemstra is values-driven is an understatement when considering her remarkable career in the non-profit sector.  She is the current Chief Operating Officer of Ronald McDonald House in Calgary, a position she accepted following her tenure as Executive Director of the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

Meet Blake Heynen, committed YMCA Calgary donor. As the Manager of Community Engagement for the Prairies and Northern Ontario at TD Bank Group, Blake is dedicated to giving back to the community. Working with local non-profits and charities fuels his passion because “it helps support and build a more inclusive world for all.
