Join in the daily fun at our Y facilities during summer, spring, and winter break

Offered at six of our health and fitness locations in Calgary, day camps are fun, safe, and unplugged opportunities for children and youth to be active and make new friends.

Campers participate in a variety of games and activities that take place both around and outside of our YMCA facilities. Each age group enjoys activities appropriate for their developmental age.

*New*  Power Up! Girls Only Multi-Sport Camp: 

In partnership with Girls in Sports Canada, Power Up! multi-sport camp focuses on building confidence in girls by providing them strategies to help engage and promote long-term participation of girls in sport. Participants will play various different sports in a fun and empowering atmosphere. Girls will gain knowledge in building a positive body image, emotional intelligence, self-regulation and a positive growth mindset all through FUNdamental Movement Skills practice. 

The camps will be offered on PD Days for CBE and CSSD from the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There is not pre or post care offered for these camps. Campers will be asked to bring their own peanut-free lunch.

Camp Descriptions

Unplug with YMCA Day Camps! Your child will be active and have fun this summer by taking part in a variety of activities including active play, cooperative games, creative exploration and more. Camps will take place both indoors and outdoors and will include daily swimming. 

Splash into YMCA Swim Camps this summer. Campers will participate in a 2-week camp where they will attend daily YMCA swim lessons with a YMCA certified swim instructor. With approximately 60-90 minutes of pool time a day, campers work toward developing swimming skills and abilities, as well as partake in regular day camp games, crafts, and activities throughout the day.

Get creative with YMCA Visual Art Camps. Campers will explore and create through a variety of mediums for 2 hours a day with a YMCA art instructor. Your child will build a portfolio to take home, get hands on messy, as well as participate in regular day camp games, crafts and activities throughout the day.

Glide into the summer with YMCA Skating Camps. Campers will participate in a learn to skate lesson where they will practice the fundamentals of skating. Skate camps spend 2 hours a day with a certified instructor both on and off the ice, as well as participate in regular day camp games, crafts and activities throughout the day. Mitts/gloves, skates (hockey or figure), and a CSA-approved hockey helmet with face cage is required.  Winter jacket and snow pants are recommended.

Reach new heights this summer with YMCA Climbing Camps. Campers will participate in a variety of games, bouldering, and fundamental movement skills to master their own abilities, strengths, and understanding of indoor rock climbing. Climbing camps will include 2 hours a day with a certified instructor and will participate in regular day camp games, crafts and activities throughout the day.

 

Show off your moves with YMCA Dance Camps. Campers will express themselves through dance for 2 hours a day with a YMCA dance instructor. Develop spatial awareness, balance and strength though an exploration of dance, culminating in an opportunity to share what they have accomplished in a Show and Share for other campers to enjoy. Dance campers will also partake in regular day camp games, crafts and activities throughout the day.



Shoot, dribble and pass this summer with YMCA Basketball Camps. Campers will participate in a high energy basketball camp where they will spend 2 hours a day with a YMCA basketball coach, as well as participate in regular day camp games, crafts and activities throughout the day.

Act out with YMCA Drama Camps. Campers will explore acting, movement, voice, character, scene work, improvisation and storytelling for 2 hours a day with a YMCA drama instructor. Drama Camps wrap up with an opportunity to showcase what you have accomplished in a Show and Share for other campers to enjoy. Drama campers will also partake in regular day camp games, crafts and activities throughout the day.

Belong, grow, thrive, and lead! Youth will discover their leadership-style and become a positive role model in their community. Participants will develop skills in team building, communication, conflict resolution and more! Leadership skills will be practiced by interacting with camp groups. Each session is lead by a mentor from YMCA Day Camps. Summer Leaders will receive a certificate of participation at the end of the 2-week session.

Take your game to the next level with YMCA Basketball Camps. Campers will participate in a high energy basketball camp where they will spend 4 hours a day with a YMCA Basketball coach, focusing on skill development, strategy and sportsmanship.  When off the court, campers will build their fitness through cross-training and physical literacy skills. Campers will learn to become an effective team player and develop an even greater love of the game.

Own the court with YMCA Girls only Basketball Camps. Campers will participate in a high energy basketball camp where they will spend 4 hours a day with a YMCA basketball coach, focusing on skill development, strategy and sportsmanship.  When off the court, campers will build their fitness through cross-training and physical literacy skills. Campers will learn to become an effective team player and develop an even greater love of the game.

Capture the moment with YMCA Photography Camps. Campers will learn how to get the most out of their smartphone camera with 2 hours of instruction a day with a YMCA visual arts instructor. Your child will develop basic knowledge of lighting, composition and capturing the image they envision, as well as participate in regular day camp games, crafts and activities throughout the day.
