Community Comes Together at YMCA Calgary Golf Tournament to Support Camp Experiences

For the past few years, YMCA Calgary has hosted its Charity Golf Tournament, bringing together community members, sponsors, volunteers and supporters for a day of connection and impact. This year was no different.

From the first few groups arriving at Bearspaw Golf Club, there was great energy in the air. Familiar faces reconnected, new relationships were formed, and participants came together in support of Camp It Forward.

A Fun Day on the Course

As the tournament got underway, the spirit of connection carried across the course.

While there was a bit of friendly competition, the event was ultimately about coming together and enjoying the day. Teams were laughing, cheering each other on, and making the most of being outside together. Whether focused on their score or simply enjoying the day, all participants contributed to the YMCA Charity Golf experience.

As golfers returned to the clubhouse, stories from the course were shared and celebrated throughout the reception. The tournament even ended up with a tie for first place. After a countback between the two groups, a winner was decided, but it was a close finish right to the end.

Why it Matters

At its core, this event is about supporting YMCA camp experiences.

This year, the tournament raised nearly $50,000 to help children access camp opportunities.

Camp provides children with the chance to try new activities, build confidence, develop meaningful connections, and experience a sense of belonging. For many, it is an opportunity to grow, learn, and create lasting memories in a supportive environment.

Right now, 429 kids in our communities require financial assistance to attend camp.

Events like the Charity Golf Tournament help remove barriers to participation and ensure more children can access the experiences, connections and opportunities that camp provides.
