Register for YMCA Calgary Weekly Activities

We hope you are staying safe, healthy, and well. After this week’s announcement by the Chief Medical Officer of Health we can announce the plan we’ve developed to safely offer activities within Phase One of the Government of Alberta’s “Path Forward” plan.

In the interim – while we await for approval to safely re-open our full network of YMCA facilities – we are able to offer you a selection of activities that will get our communities active, healthy, and happy at our YMCAs that still align with current restrictions.

Beginning Monday March 1, 2021, we will offer Weekly Registered Activities at Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton and the Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge only. Other locations will remain temporarily closed at this time and no membership fees will be charged.

Registration begins Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 8:00am.

When can I book

Registration begins Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 8:00am. All family and 1-on-1 activities can be booked online through our Online Registration Portal. Applications for youth group rentals can be submitted online through the form on our website. Registration opens each Thursday for the following Monday – Sunday period. Multiple 1-on-1 can be made each week.

What about my membership? Do I have to pay?

All memberships remain suspended until facilities fully reopen. No membership payments have been taken since early December 2020. All activities are currently free for service and available to the wider community. No Membership fees will be charged.

Are all YMCA Calgary locations fully open?

No, most locations and services remain closed in compliance with Provincial Health Orders. Limited activities (listed above) are available at our two regional locations (Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton and Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge). They will be operating limited hours during this interim period (Mon – Fri 11.30am-7.30pm, Sat 8am-3pm, Sun Closed).

Access will only be permitted to those with booked activities – drop in access in not currently permitted. Other locations, with the exception of Gray Family Eau Claire YMCA and South Health Campus YMCA, will reopen as Provincial Guidelines permit.

What do I need to access?
  • For your first visit to the YMCA you are required to complete a waiver.
  • For each visit to the YMCA you are required to complete Health Screening.
  • Photo ID is required for all participants aged 12+
  • A booked activity or rental is required at this time. Drop in access is not currently available.
  • Access will be provided a maximum of 15mins prior to your booked activity, and you may only access your booked activity (not other areas of the facility)
  • Access is available for household members directly participating in the activity only. Spectators are not permitted at this time.
What health and safety protocols do you have in place?

YMCA Calgary follows all Provincial health guidelines, guidance from sport governing bodies and industry best practice. Face masks (not shields) are required in all areas of our facility and at all times (unless directly engaged in strenuous physical activity). Physical distancing of 3m will maintained by staff and participants, with the exception of instructors to briefly correct form or technique. Facility cleanliness will continue to remain a high priority for staff, and participants are required to wipe down any equipment they use prior and after use.

Can I access Locker Rooms?

Health Regulations require Locker Rooms and showers to be available to swimmers only. All other users may access day use lockers (outside the locker room) only. Please arrive changed and ready to exercise. If you want to lock up your belongings, please bring a lock with you to use with the day lockers. Changing facilities are not provided, unless swimming.

I already purchased personal training and still have remaining sessions – can I use those sessions now?

No, as current guidelines mean we are unable to guarantee sessions with your previous trainer. These sessions are currently 45 min which is less than what you purchased. YMCA Calgary will be happy to honour your remaining sessions in full once we have re-opened our facilities..
