Camp Riveredge YMCA

Camp Riveredge YMCA is an outdoor summer day camp located at Sandy Beach in the heart of Calgary. Camp Riveredge campers learn and explore their natural surroundings while experiencing new things, meeting friends and creating positive, lasting memories.

Age: 6Y - 7Y
Hummingbirds are our youngest campers at Camp Riveredge, and our Hummingbird camps are designed to introduce your 6-7 year old to the wonder and excitement that is Riveredge. Our Hummingbirds will get to experience the great outdoors while learning new games and discovering their environment through play. Our Hummingbirds will be involved in arts and crafts activities, experience a low ropes challenge course as a team, and try their hand at bouldering.

Age: 8Y - 9Y
Hawks will learn and participate in archery, bouldering and challenge course activities. They will have the opportunity to create a keepsake to remember their week through our Arts and Crafts programming.

Age: 10Y - 11Y
Falcons will be kept busy playing field games and learning new things about our outdoor environment. This age group will be introduced to the concept of orienteering – finding your way and following directions with a compass. They will also participate in archery, bouldering and a team building low ropes challenge course.

Age: 12Y - 13Y
Eagles will have many adventures this summer including a canoeing trip on the Glenmore Reservoir and the option of an overnight stay in our tipis. Eagles will also participate in archery and bouldering. Eagles are able to challenge themselves by learning orienteering, playing the Animal Game, and going through a low ropes obstacle course. They will be given leadership opportunities.

Age: 14Y - 15Y
Ospreys is a combination of a leadership training and outdoor adventure program. Ospreys will be able to participate in all the activities that make Riveredge unique within Calgary–archery, bouldering, orienteering, and a low ropes challenge course. They will also be given many leadership opportunities within camp. Ospreys are able to plan and lead a flag song and skit, and implement or play games with younger campers in a leadership role.
