COVID-19 Employee Assistance Fund
YMCA Calgary has created an Employee Assistance Fund. This fund is intended to provide team members who have been significantly impacted with access to financial resources to support immediate and essential needs, primarily housing, utilities, medical and food within available resources.
RECEIVE SUPPORT IN FIVE CRITICAL AREAS
RENT/MORTGAGE
For staff at risk of losing their home due to an inability to pay rent or mortgage.
- Staff are requested to show statement for verification, and payment up to $500 will be made directly to landlord or bank
UTILITIES
For staff at risk of having their electricity, heat, cellphone or landline, water, cable or internet shut off due to an inability to pay.
- Staff are requested to show statement for verification, and payment up to $250 will be made directly to the utility
FOOD
For staff who are unable to feed their families due to lost wages.
- Staff can request up to $200 in gift cards to Co-Op, Safeway, Wal-Mart, or SkipTheDishes
MEDICAL
For staff who are unable to pay new medical bills or prescriptions during this ongoing crisis.
- Staff are requested to show paid billing for verification, and payment up to $250 will be made to employees as reimbursement
VETERINARY EXPENSES
For staff who are unable to pay new or unexpected veterinary bills during this ongoing crisis.
- Staff are requested to show paid billing for verification, and payment up to $250 will be made to your payroll account.
ELIGIBILITY
YMCA Calgary staff who worked February 1st , 2021 through April 9th , 2021, and are dealing with financial hardship due to the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis are eligible to receive up to $500 per person as funds are available. The EAF Committee will review applications every Monday and Thursday for approvals.
