YMCA Calgary Temporary Closure FAQ’s

YMCA Calgary is in the process of issuing refunds for cancelled programs due to COVID-19. If you receive a receipt from us, it means that we have processed a refund for a program or rental and the funds will be placed back on the your method of payment. No further action is required for patrons to receive their refund. Refunds are being completed now and we sincerely appreciate your patience as we manage this process.

As you likely know, on March 15, 2020, YMCA Calgary temporarily closed all its facilities and cancelled all programs on the advice of Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health and by order of the Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA). This includes all our Health, Fitness and Aquatics facilities, Child Development Centres and Camps. All closures and cancellations are in place indefinitely.




What is being done about my membership?

Effective immediately, All YMCA memberships are suspended and no further payments will be processed until we have reopened.

No action is required on behalf of the suspended member. Your membership is paused.


What is being done about Registered Winter Programs?

All participants in the Winter Session (Jan – March) will be credited for the last week of session (March 16 – 22) as it was cancelled. Refunds will be provided automatically, before March 20.

No action is required.


Are Registered Spring Programs running?

We have made the decision to cancel spring programs, scheduled for March 30th – June 21st, 2020
We will automatically refund your spring program registration. No action is required.

Are Spring Daycamps running?

Spring Break Daycamps (March 23 – 27 CBE & April 13 – 17 CSSD) are cancelled. Full refunds will be provided automatically, before March 20.

No action is required.


Can we still book rentals?

The processing of rental applications for the 2020/21 Season has been suspended until further notice. This includes ice, pools, gyms, theatre and multi-purpose rooms.

The published due dates are no longer valid, and will be announced at a later time. Applications may continue to be submitted through our online portal https://www.ymcacalgary.org/rentals. , but will not be processed.

When new due dates are announced we commit to providing a minimum two-week window to submit new applications prior to the new due date.

Will Camp Chief Hector YMCA Summer Camps still run?

At this time, Camp Chief Hector YMCA Summer Camp is expected to continue as planned, and registration remains open. For existing registered campers, no action is required at this time. Should the situation change we will be in touch with all campers.
