YMCA Calgary Heritage Club Celebrates 20 Years!

We recently hosted our 20th Annual Heritage Club dinner at the Calgary Golf and Country Club. Our Heritage Club recognizes a very special group of YMCA Calgary donors who have chosen to direct their donations to the endowment initiative.

Currently, the YMCA Endowment Fund has over $5.65 million dollars, and each year only a portion of the interest and dividends earned by the fund are spent. What this means is that the Heritage Club is able to support ongoing needs in the community while investing in the future of YMCA Calgary.

Last year, the Heritage Club contributed $100,000 of funding that sent children to camp, and supported YMAP (YMCA Achievement Program for Youth), Aboriginal programs and services, community outreach programs, and staff scholarships for post-secondary education.

One inspiring piece of Heritage Club history is that it is volunteer-led. For over 20 years now, a small yet dedicated group of YMCA Calgary members have volunteered their time and energy in working toward a vision where YMCA will always be there to serve the needs of the community.

YMCA Calgary has been around for more than 113 years. Support from the Heritage Club and its Endowment Fund lends inspiration for a bright and strong future for the YMCA.
