Spring Demo Days at the Saddletowne YMCA


You’ve sprung ahead one hour and your winter jacket is hanging in the back of the closet, unused.  Spring is coming!

The first week of September is Demo Week at the Saddletowne YMCA!  Incorporate a free class into your weekly workout, try a new sport or fitness routine, and meet our amazing instructors.

Tai Chi Offers a Wealth of Benefits for Mind & Body

On Saturdays beginning January 11, Saddletowne YMCA will be offering registered Tai Chi classes from 11-12:30.

The instructor will teach 24-form, 48-form & Tai Chi Sword, Dong-Moon Tai Chi. Dong Moon 24-forms & 48-forms have a similar sequence to Chinese Yang style Tai Chi, however the styles differ in the more detailed skills.

Some of the benefits you can expect from Tai Chi are:

  1. Stronger lower body and increased upper body flexibility which helps to maintain function & independence, improve balance and prevent falls or injuries resulting from falls.
  2. Cleansing of internal organs through various actions that stimulate and strengthen the core thus improving digestion and assisting the body to purge toxins and fatty elements.
  3. Stabilized metabolism and improved circulation which helps to protect against or improve various cardiovascular diseases.
  4. Stress reduction, improved memory and concentration and a sense of calm and well-being through brain engaging activities.

As Tai Chi is an art that requires practice and progression through various skills that build upon each other, it is important to register early and practice regularly.

FREE Demo of Steve Nash Basketball at YMCA Saddletowne

The YMCA Saddletowne’s Youth department is offering FREE demo classes of Steve Nash Baskbetball next week for children aged 9-13.  In this exciting class children will develop their basketball skills, learn the importance of fair play and teamwork, and make some new friends while they are at it!

Children between the ages of 9 and 11 can attend Tuesday, September 3rd from 6:00-7:00 in our Main Gymnasium.

Children between the ages of 12 and 13 can attend Wednesday, September 4th from 7:00-8:00 in our Main Gymnasium.

Free Demo – Family Yoga

Monday, March 25 5:00-6:00pm.  Bring your child(ren) and try this registered class for free!  Enjoy stretching, strengthening and spending quality time together in this calming atmosphere. This class is designed to bring parents and children together to explore the benefits of health and wellness while learning basic yoga postures.

Beginner and Advanced Level Zumba at Saddletowne

Beginning this Fall, the YMCA Saddletowne Fitness department will be offering beginner and advanced level Zumba classes Tuesday and Wednesdays evenings.  We’re sure you will find a convenient class that meets your experience level. 

Stop by Tuesday, September 4th at 7:30 pm for a beginner-level demo class.  We are offering an advanced-level demo class Wednesday, September 5th at 7:00 pm.  All demo classes offered next week are FREE for members and included in our non-member facility drop-in fee.  If you have any questions please contact Cathi Molson.

Labour Day TRX Cycle drop-in at Saddletowne

Stop by Studio A on our Strength and Conditioning floor Monday, September 3rd to try our new TRX Cycle class.  This 1 hour class will begin at 10:00 am.  The demo will be FREE for YMCA members and included in our non-member drop-in facility fee for this day.
