Healthy Kids Day – Sunday, June 7

YMCA Healthy Kids Day is a free annual community event hosted by YMCAs across Canada in June. An action-packed event for the entire family, YMCA Healthy Kids Day places special emphasis on how healthy living can be fun and providing families with simple tips and resources to live healthy every day.

The YMCA believes healthy kids are the foundation and future of healthy communities. That’s why we offer programming and advocate year round for the healthy growth of children and youth in spirit, mind and body.

Eau Claire April Basketball Tournament

BBall blonde tween with friend_63586264Eau Claire is hosting another Grade 6 Basketball Tournament! Join us on Friday, April 17th from 6:00-8:15 PM to participate. Teams of 6 will be competing in a 4-on-4 style competition.

Prizes of all sorts will be awarded to participants. In addition, the top two teams will win Eau Claire Jerseys and be awarded the opportunity to compete for the Inter-Branch Trophy at the City-Wide Championship game on May 1st. Participants will be provided with drinks and light snacks on the day of the tournament. Families and friends are invited to attend to cheer their player on!

All youth ages 10-13 are invited to participate – register now for the opportunity to represent your branch! Those who wish to participate but are not members must pay the $4.00 drop-in fee on the day of the tournament.

Participants are welcome to sign-up as a full team, as a single player, or as a partial team. We will do the best we can to accommodate teammate requests, however we cannot make any guarantees. Camp Chief Hector YMCA Family weekend registration – March 3 and 5

Camp Chief Hector YMCA offers a weekend getaway for the entire family during the spring and fall. There are a variety of activities to choose from to create a unique outdoor experience. Participants can try things like horseback riding, hikes, canoeing, high ropes, group games, arts and crafts, climbing tower and evening campfires.

A site-wide scavenger hunt for Grade 6 youth. Participants will be put into teams and will have to complete a series of fun tasks around the YMCA. After the scavenger hunt, there will be a party with food, prizes, and fun!

Community Wellness Day at the Genesis Centre

The Saddletowne YMCA is excited to host our first Community Wellness Day on Saturday, March 29th from 12:00-6:00 PM.

Entry to the facility will be free for all. Participants are invited to enjoy a variety of exciting workshops, demonstrations and activities fit for all ages.

Get a sneak peek at the Saddletowne YMCA’s spring programs while connecting with guest speakers from organizations including the Mount Royal University, the University of Calgary and the Norlien Foundation.   Topics include healthy early brain development in children, physical activity and mental health in youths, and making healthy food choices.  Learn about different wellness opportunities and resources and meet the different services providers of our vibrant community.

Bring the whole family to our open family swim in the main pool, Youth Sports demonstrations in the gymnasium or our Preschool open-gym.  Blood pressure testing, free blood tests for prostate cancer screening and healthy snacks will be offered throughout.

Snowstorm? What Snowstorm! Keeping warm at the Saddletowne YMCA

The weather this week certainly put a damper on the winter fun for Saddletowne YMCA’s Preschool Department, but we battled back with some wonderful indoor crafts!

Elves at Play: Get your Christmas Shopping done while your children (3-12yrs) swim, craft, and play games with the wonderful Youth and Preschool staff at Saddletowne. Saturday December 14th from 1:00pm t0 5:00pm.

Crafty Kids Workshop: Does your child (3-12yrs) like to do crafts? Sign your child(ren) up to create an exciting holiday crafted gift, wrapping paper included, with the help of the great YMCA volunteers and staff. Tuesday December 10th from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
