Saddletowne and Shawnessy now have LINC classes!

The Immigrant Services Department is very excited about the recent moves of both of our Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) locations, and even more excited to finally settle into our new homes!

Previously located downtown our “LINC North” site made the trek even further north to the new Genesis Centre of Community Wellness, the same location as our newest YMCA – Saddletowne. Located in the 1000 Voices area of the complex our staff and students are ecstatic with the location and their classrooms, and are getting less and less distracted by the mountain views as days go on.

Our “South LINC” location has gone through a few moves in the last several years. First from the South YMCA after it’s closure to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church where we resided until March 1st, 2012 when the journey further south to the Shawnessy YMCA was made. Running out of both the Family Centre at the YMCA and rooms in the South Fish Creek Recreation Association (SFCRA), the South staff are excited to have new classrooms and windows that bring in a lot of natural light.

These moves finally complete the vision of having our LINC classes in our Health, Fitness and Recreation branches so that students, staff and volunteers will have easy access to the facilities and become further integrated within the YMCA Community.
