New Changes for Children’s Programs

From the beginning of Spring Session (April 4th) YMCA Calgary will require all children aged seven and under to be signed in and out of programs, by an adult aged sixteen or over.

YMCA Calgary is a leader in providing safe, fun, and impactful programs for children. As part of a review of our current policies, we have decided to be more consistent in how we manage the drop off and collection of children into our care. From the beginning of Spring Session (April 4th) we will require all children aged seven and under to be signed in and out of programs, by an adult aged sixteen or over.

This already occurs in many of our program areas, but will be extended to all classes – including swim lessons. Children will be signed in and out directly with the instructor, typically in the pool or regular program setting. This ensures we transfer care to and from a responsible adult.

Please begin to plan for this change now, to ensure a responsible adult is able to accompany your child to and from each program. Thank you for your understanding during this period of change, and by helping us create the safest environment possible for all members and participants of the YMCA.

Thank you !
