Starting in January 2014, the Saddletowne YMCA will be offering floorball classes to children between 6 and 13 years old. What is floorball? Floorball is a fast-paced, exciting, safe and low cost type of indoor hockey.
New to the game, or would like to know a few of Floorball’s unique rules:
No stick checking, lifting, pinning or hacking. Players must go for the ball and not the stick or free hit, simular to a free kick in soccer, is awarded.
Sticks must stay below the waist levelwhen shooting. When making contact with the ball, the stick must be below knee level.
No pushing, shoving or checking. Incidental shoulder to shoulder contact is allowed when battling for a loose ball.
You can’t play the ball with your hand, arms or head.
There are no offside or icing calls in floorball.
Infractions may result in a free hit or a 2-minute penality depending on the type of foul.
