Crowfoot Member of the Month

It is with great pleasure that I get to announce this MOM as one of my personal friends that I have met through working at the Y.  His name is Roxie Lam and words can’t even express the impact he has had on my life, as well as many others.  Roxie is a fairly quiet guy but when he speaks his words have a great impact and power.  Getting to know him over the past 2 years has been enlightening and humbling all at the same time.  He has shared his life struggles with me and has always been there to encourage me when I was in such need of true friends in my life.  He and his wife Krista have been there for me through some of my toughest times and I feel truly blessed to call them my friends.

He has been coming to the Crowfoot YMCA since it opened and has a background in competitive boxing.  He emulates the core values that we stand for at the Y .  He is forever growing and persevering and teaching me to never give up on what is right and to keep fighting for my standards.  He has made great relationships with many of our members and I know he has spoken into their lives as much as he has mine.  The Crowfoot Y would be a little less bright without him in my personal opinion.  I honestly don’t know what I would have done without him and his wife over the past 2 years.

I also must say that the YMCA just seems to attract these heart inspiring people who just seem to get each other.  I am always amazed at the wonderful people I meet here every day and how open they are at sharing their personal stories.  Everyone has a story, a great story; we just need to be in a place to listen.  As much as we learn from our own life, we can learn a whole lot more from someone else’s.
