One day per week throughout the month of November there will be a “Strong Members” station set up at the Shawnessy YMCA where you can stop by to see how strong you are for Strong Kids.
Through philanthropy, the YMCA and our donors are removing barriers to help children, youth and families live healthier lives and achieve their full potential. Our annual Strong Kids Campaign gives children and youth the opportunity to participate in YMCA programs that positively influence their health and well-being and connect them to a caring community. 100% of all Strong Kids donations directly support participation in YMCA experiences. In 2016, YMCA provided 23,000 subsidized experience and the need has only increased in 2017!
The specific days and themes of our Strong Members for Strong Kids campaign are listed below 6:00-7:00am, 8:30-9:30am, and 5:30-6:30pm each day. Whether you come at the crack of dawn Mondays or dinner time Thursdays, there will be a day and time where you’ll have the opportunity to have fun and show your strength for Strong Kids!
Wednesday November 1– Push Ups, reps per minute.
Thursday November 9– Skipping, reps per minute.
Friday November 17– Plank, seconds held.
Tuesday November 21– Expresso bike, timed race.
Monday November 27– Wall Sit, seconds held.
Registration for Camp Chief Hector YMCA Summer Overnight Camps begins in December.

Welcome to September! As the days get shorter and the air (eventually) gets cooler, we have some exciting drop in programs to highlight for the Fall session!
Essentrics- Mondays @ 5:30pm with Zsuzsa
Essentrics is a full body workout that utilizes dynamic and fluid combination of strengthening and stretching. The technique develops lean, strong and flexible muscles with immediate changes to the posture. Perfect for men and women of all fitness levels, this program rebalances the body, prevents and treats injuries, and unlocks tight joints. With a diverse music playlist accompanying each routine, this equipment free workout leaves you feeling energized, youthful and healthy.
Group Cycle- Tuesdays @ 5:30pm with Jacey
A high energy on-bike workout that emphasizes proper form and technique, this cycle class with Jacey will challenge and improve your endurance and power with hills, climbs, sprints and more!
Group Power- Tues/Thurs @ 6:00am with Ruhee/Rachel, Wed/Fri @ 12:00pm with Brigitte
Group Power is the most fun and innovative way to strength train! This class uses the barbell, step, high energy music, and body weight to create an effective and challenging workout suited to all fitness levels. Bonus tracks are being taught throughout September featuring new ways to challenge the back, legs, and triceps, and a brand new workout will be launched mid-October!
Group Blast- Tues @ 12:00pm with John & Jessi
A new and ridiculously fun way to get your cardio workout! Group Blast trains agility, coordination, balance and strength using the step as the training tool and energetic music to keep you moving and motivated! Stay tuned for a brand new workout mid-October!

Join us for a FREE facility wide ladies only event at the Saddletowne YMCA. This event is designed to introduce ladies in our community to the fun and healthy benefits of exercise, in a non-intimidating environment. As this is a facility wide event, our facility will be restricted to women only during these hours.
Bring a friend or family member and join us for a fun night full of a variety of exciting activities!
Group Power begins this coming February. Join us for a full hour of high-rep weight class that will push your muscles to the limit. A quick and easy way to achieve full body strength and boost your metabolism. Group Power will be a drop in class, included with your YMCA membership. Are you looking to engage within your community? Instruct a new sport or provide leadership? We are looking for volunteers to work with youth in a variety of programs! Instructors follow a curriculum which helps youth build fundamental skills through physical literacy. Instructors will utilize their own experience, creativity, leadership and help youth grow into themselves and their community. Instructors choose a program to lead, volunteer 1.5 hours/week, gain leadership skills and participate in valuable training!

Tis the season to be jolly! This year, support Melcor YMCA youth leadership programs with your Christmas tree purchase! Bring the spirit home by purchasing a YMCA Christmas Tree. Trees are available at the Melcor YMCA in Crowfoot. You may purchase a tree for $5.00 per foot. We will be selling trees from now and until we sell out!
Stop by the front desk for more information, call 403-547-6576 or look for the YMCA Leadership groups awaiting your donation in our lobby after school hours. Follow the Christmas music to find them! The proceeds from your purchase will allow our YMCA leaders to attend the Western Canadian Leadership Conference held in February and fund the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign! These leaders meet every week to gain skills and to give back within their communities!
