“The culture of yogurt: Canadians’ consumption of ‘the food of the decade’ is booming, as is the range of products. In 2002, the average Canadian ate yogurt 29 times a year — or about once every couple of weeks. That figure has more than doubled in a decade: the average Canadian now eats yogurt more than 60 times a year, or more than once a week.
“That is very substantial growth,” said Joel Gregoire, the Canadian food and beverage industry analyst for the NPD Group, a market research group that measures consumer consumption.
