Meet the volunteer YMCA Strong Kids Campaign Chairs from each of our branches.

Clark Hunter

Board of Directors, Strong Kids Chair: Clarke Hunter

Clarke was a volunteer in the YMCA’s Growing Strong Together capital campaign a few years ago. Prior to that, he was one of two Macleod Dixon partners who led a campaign to save the Calgary Kiwanis Music Festival when it ran into financial difficulty.

There are many aspects to the YMCA, but the ones Clarke is most proud of are programs aimed at helping people in need of assistance, and its commitment to make all programs available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. Strong Kids is integral to both.

He has been a Strong Kids donor for a number of years, and has seen and heard first hand stories of the life-changing impact the program can have on kids and their families. As the Campaign Chair, Clarke looks forward to helping make a difference for even more kids in 2010.

No matter what else is happening in her life, or what city she is in, the YMCA is the place where Leah feels she belongs. She volunteers for the Strong Kids campaign because the money raised helps other people belong to the YMCA too.

They continued their YMCA membership by joining the Eau Claire branch because they firmly believe “the YMCA is so much more than a gym”. Shelly truly believes in community involvement, which is evident in her long volunteer history with various organizations. After seeking a YMCA volunteer position for some time, Shelly jumped at the chance to be this year’s campaign chair.
