Building strong leaders is a part of YMCA Calgary’s mission. With several different programs for youth that focus on leadership, participants learn about the importance of taking responsibility, communication, volunteering and community involvement.

Adventurers Leadership
The YMCA Adventurers Leadership program is for children in Grades 5 and 6 who have previous involvement with the YMCA School Support program. The program is designed to develop leadership skills, encourage recreational activity, introduce participants to volunteering and provide positive after-school experiences.

Kids in Motion
The YMCA Kids in Motion program is designed to encourage youth, ages nine to 12, to work together, develop a sense of community responsibility and involvement and care for others.
This unique summer program invites kids to volunteer in meaningful projects such as mural painting, community gardens and food drives in their own neighbourhoods. In return for their work, the kids enjoy recreational activities like swimming, outdoor activities and visits to local attractions.
This free program runs twice per week during July and August.
