Salary: Coordinators starting wage is $13.82 per hr.
Leaders and relief staff starting wage is $12.35 per hr.

Start Date: Programs begin September 4, 2012
Training - Begins August 23, 2012

Coordinator Position information

Nature and Scope:

YMCA Calgary operates 8 Kids' Club Programs for children in grades K - 6.  YMCA Kids' Club is a recreation and leadership program that operates from the end of the school day until 5:30 pm on regular school days. In addition to hours spent working directly with children in the program, the site's Program Coordinator will also have paid hours each week for program planning and administration.

Qualifications:

  • Cleared Security Clearance, including a Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Current First Aid and CPR C
  • Experience working with children/youth
  • Exceptional customer service attitude
  • Resourceful, flexible and organized
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact positively with others
  • Computer competencies (MS Word & Excel, Email and Internet)
  • Post secondary education in a child related field is desirable

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and create opportunities to enhance each and every person's YMCA experience
  • Ensure the well-being and safety of the children in the program
  • Provide diverse, age appropriate programs based on the curriculum outline
  • Develop and maintain positive working relations with staff, parents/guardians and participants
  • Maintain program space and equipment as per YMCA, health and school standards
  • Provide leadership for the program, including staff support and supervision
  • Complete administrative tasks including purchasing, planning and month end paperwork
  • Attend trainings and staff meetings as scheduled

*Note Relief staff work on an on-call basis and the program location can change from week to week or day to day, depending on the needs of the department and the availability of staff.
